WRITTEN DAMAGE/LOSS ESTIMATES FOR CRASHED OR STOLEN BIKES
FOR CYCLISTS, PERSONAL INJURY LAWYERS AND BIKE SHOPS
My estimates are carefully researched and worded to make sure that your bike and all damaged parts are replaced. You deserve to get your ride back to it's original working condition, and you shouldn't have to settle for anything less.
WHAT IS A DAMAGE ESTIMATE?
Get fair compensation for your bike loss and/or damages
If you have been hit by a vehicle while out riding and your bike has been damaged, at some point you are going to need to furnish the at fault driver's insurance company a written damage estimate. The insurance company, or perhaps your personal injury lawyer, will need to know what damages your bike incurred and the cost to replace your bike and/or parts. What can be challenging at this step in your settlement process, is getting a properly written damage estimate by a professional in the industry so that you can be adequately compensated for your bike related losses. Let VeloLoss be your advocate for getting a fair deal from the insurance company.
I charge $95 for the damage estimate ($150 for custom bike builds), which is a cost that will be reimbursed to you by the insurance company as part of your settlement. It's important to keep in mind that your local bike shop may be experts at determining which parts are damaged on your bike, but often don't write written damage estimates, which are often required by the insurance company. Call Eric at 858-414-7093 and I can work with the mechanics at your local shop to prepare your damage estimate.
If you have had your bike stolen from your property, your homeowner's insurance policy or renter's insurance policy may cover the cost to replace your bicycle (usually minus your deductible). In this situation VeloLoss can prepare a loss estimate which will help your insurance determine the fair value for your bike; the cost is the same as a damage estimate - $95 ($150 for a custom bike build.)

WHY USE VELOLOSS?
Get your bike back to its original working condition
You should be fairly compensated for the damages to your bike, especially if you were involved in accident and it wasn't your fault. Keep in mind that insurance companies are going to try and minimize the amount of their payout. My estimates are carefully researched and worded so that your bike and all damaged parts are replaced, the labor to replace those parts is part of the estimate, and that the cost damage estimate is also included.
If your carbon fiber bike and/or fork, including carbon wheels, stem, handlebars, or seat post has been hit by a vehicle, THOSE PARTS MUST BE REPLACED. There is simply no way to know whether or not there is an internal fracture to any of those parts of the bike that could lead to a catastrophic failure at some point. These failures, especially those involving the fork, have resulted in death. It's just not worth taking the chance by continuing to ride a bike or part that has been involved in an altercation with a vehicle. Certainly the insurance companies do not want that hanging over their heads and my damage estimates will make them well aware of that liability.
If your bike has damaged components that are no longer made, it's possible that you may need an entirely new drivetrain. As an example, many older Shimano components are no longer made. If you have a 10 speed Dura-Ace shifter that has been damaged, you can't simply replace it with a new 11 speed one. Since the older 10 speed stuff is no longer made, you'll need to replace not only both shifters, but also the front derailleur, rear derailleur, and possibly the crankset. Again, a properly researched damage estimate will uncover and address these types of issues. You deserve to get your bike back to its original working condition, and you shouldn't have to settle for anything less.
